2.3. Direct Evidence
8/18/09

And then, the direct evidence for Jesus seems substantial. For example,
1. It appears that all the disciples -- except John (who was banished) -- were eventually martyred (executed for their preaching). If so, these guys must have believed what they were saying -- and they had been there for the whole thing. (Link)
2. The "church" grew very rapidly around Jerusalem itself -- even when the claims of the church should have been easily refuted if untrue, and even when members of the church were banned from the synagogues, and were otherwise persecuted. (Link)
3. We have no record of the Sanhedrin or the Romans disclaiming Jesus' disappearance from the tomb -- or his alleged miracles otherwise. (Link)
4. Christianity is now the largest religion in the world, whereas Judaism is one of the smaller religions. And remember, according to the OT, the "descendents" of Abraham would number as the stars. (Link)
5. And then, the next largest, fastest growing, and perhaps the most devout religion in the world -- Islam -- holds that Jesus was the prophesied Jewish Messiah, that he was born of a virgin and that he went to G-d directly -- without dying. (Link)
6. The New Testament is, by far, the most well documented of ancient texts, and has been only further supported by modern discoveries. (Link)
7. Prophecies: the 'face' of Jesus can be perceived, or at least easily 'imagined,' in the Messianic 'cloud' of the OT. (Link)
8. The Shroud of Turin now appears to be authentic -- and incredible. The latest studies apparently show that the carbon dating for the 13th century was invalid – taken on a repaired portion of the cloth. If the shroud is not the burial cloth of Jesus, it must be a fraud perpetrated by space aliens -- certainly, humans couldn't have made it. (Link)
9. Somehow, even the stars tell the story of Jesus... (Link)
10. There even appears to be substantial mathematical support for Jesus ENCODED in the Bible. (Link)
11. One needn't embrace all of Christianity in order to embrace Jesus -- or, to believe that he was the prophesied Messiah. (Link).
12. If Christianity was not the way for Abraham's descendents to number as the stars, Christianity is not mentioned in prophecy.
