Chapter 7: Seems to Work

7.1 As noted before (Part I, Act 3, #40), stories seem to speak directly to our right hemispheres…

7.2 The Jesus story is a good example. In fact, it could be our best example. It could be the Mozart of the human story (Click here)…

7.3 By becoming more and more familiar with the Jesus story, we can be transported into a magical, transcendent world of humility, love and forgiveness – to a sense of this is what life is all about, and that nothing else matters…

7.4 Not only can we begin to sense this idea full-blown, but we can do something even more extraordinary – we can sort of … commit ourselves to the idea; give ourselves up to it; turn ourselves over to it; we can sort of whole-heartedly subordinate our other driving forces to this one… We can sort of let it take over our lives – and, we can thereby feel saved from drowning; we can feel “born again,” and at peace with the world. Through the Jesus concept (Jesus), we can turn our lives over to the G-d concept (G-d).

7.5 We can “ask Jesus into our lives.” We can “die in Christ.” We can be “born again.” We can “take Jesus as our Lord and Savior” – and make everything right with the world (for only a time, but revive-able, time after time).

7.6 This is a real, physiological phenomenon, of which, at least, many of us humans can partake. If it is only a hallucination, it is still beautiful.

7.7 And, one thing for sure, this biblical character of "Jesus" introduced a real idea that works the way he said it does … whether he was real or not – which makes his reality that much more likely…

7.8 His story seems to massage an idea, or feeling, up out of our inner being (the right hemisphere).

7.9 And then, we can do something like commit, or devote, ourselves to that idea.

7.10 Which can be extremely rewarding for at least the rest of our lives.

7.11 These things are real and extraordinary, whether the alleged author was or not…

7.12 Which again, makes his reality that much more likely. (Genetic Jesus)
